Hello world!

I heard that someone using sniffing can access packets of information on a
shared cable medium.
So does it mean that if someone technically inclined and lives nearby can
access all the info I get and send using cable modem to and from the
Internet?

It is quite some time since cable Internet was somehow unsafe (security
wise). Today, all major cable providers are employing technical solutions to
reduce the risks to the same level as DSL (on their side, which shouldn't
preclude you to use a firewall and an antivirus solution).
