Security NOT using "mdw" file

K

Kan D.

Greetings.

Does anyone know of a way to do this (please read all steps):

1. I want to setup a Design Master and 4 replicas. (I know how)

2. I want to lock out the users from design mode of all objects within the
replica NOT using the "mdw" file, but some other way, requiring a password.

3. I guess that's all.

4. Help.

5. Thanks.

6. And Good Everything.

7. Bye.

You can't.

An MDE will prevent changes to forms, reports and modules, but they'll still
be able to change tables, queries and macros.

What's your objection to applying security and using a specific MDW file?

well, shoot.

My objection to mdw is that, for some reason, my supervisor does not like
using the mdw file.

Why can't I make the replica's function in one aspect like an MDE (design of
objects is disabled)?

I don't want to make MDEs, but, judging from your response, I may have to.

What is your response?

Thanks,
Kan

Does your supervisor realize that Access uses an MDW file whether or not
you've applied security?

And I wasn't actually recommending MDEs, as they don't appear to meet your
needs (the users will still be able to make changes to tables, queries and
macros)

Forgot to mention that you should only be replicating the tables anyhow.
"Application objects" such as forms, reports, modules and macros aren't
intended to be replicated.
