Security Descriptor ??

Norton Disk Doctor reports "Security Descriptor Errors" on
drive C:, offers to fix them, goes thru a repair on the
next boot, then reports the same problem on the next test.
What are these things, how do you "fix" them, do they even
need to be fixed?

I've had this problem before and the way that I solved it was to use
Microsoft's own CHKDSK (Scandisk) to perform the fixes after a reboot. I
assume you're using NTFS on XP/2000?

Running Windows XP h.e. with NTFS.
Chkdsk claims to perform the fixes. Norton doesn't seem
to agree. I don't see where this is causing any other
problems... so my concern is more a matter of curiosity.
A Google search turns up a few references, but little
solid advice. It may be simply that Microsoft and Norton
have a difference of opinion.

What version of Norton? I would not trust it far these days anyway, but
an old version may not have been brought up to date for minor changes to
NTFS in XP
