Security Center does not recognize AVG apps

I recently did a cleanup on the registry and apparently inadvertantly deleted
the entries that allow the SC to recognize third party apps, AVG in
particular. It did recognize them prior to this.

I am assuming that I need to re-register one or more dlls or other files.
Can anyone tell me which ones?

WinXP SP2 with all updates applied.

Use System Restore to restore your system to a time BEFORE you fooled
around with the registry.
If you can't do that, then try to do a repair/install of AVG, and see
if it puts back what you took out.
When you get it working again, don't mess with it.

Thank you for reply but it is of no help.

I do not use System Restore so that option is not available. I have cleaned
the registry many times before using JV16 Power Tools. This is the first time
that I have ever had a problem and I have only myself to blame for not
scanning the results more carefully before removing the entries.

Since the removal of a registry entry has caused the problem I think that it
is obvious that re-registering the proper files would solve the problem. I
have not been able to identily the files involved so I am asking for some
assistance.

Does it have an undo function? This is just another example of why sooner
or later using a registry cleaner can cause problems for very little if any
real benefit.

Fred,

A couple of things have been learned here.
1. Turn System Restore back on. It's your life boat when thing go pear
shaped.
2. Don't fool with registry cleaners.

JV16 has an Undo function. You could use it to put back what you took
out.

The PREFERRED option is to do a repair/install of AVG.
Download a fresh copy of AVG, and run the installer. It will ask if
you want to do a repair, or full install. Choose the repair option. It
will fix your registry.

Finally. DON'T FOOL AROUND WITH THE REGISTRY!

Good luck.
