Security and Mail Merge

I've recently put User-level Security into my database, when I did so I chose
to create a shortcut to open my secured database (so I now have to click on
the shortcut not the database to open it).

Since doing this I've been unable to do a mail merge (either through Access
or Word) because it doesn't provide me with the ability to open/link to the
mdb with the workgroup file, and whenever it tries to open the mdb it says I
don't have the authority (even though I am the workgroup administrator).

Is this just not possible, or is there something I'm not doing?

It can be done by merging to an rtf file and then having your Word document
use this as its data source. It's years since I last did this so can't
remember the exact method but I'm sure if you do a Google search in
comp.databases.ms-access you'll find what you need to know (that's where I
found out).

You should have no problem opening the mdb, logging in, and running using
Tools, Office Links, Merge it with Word. Another alternative is to use
automation to do it from Access. Perhaps the simplist might be to use
Albert Kallal's merge sample. You'll find it somewhere at
