secured web site pages

I'm unable to open any secured web page. Receive
message "Cannot find server or DNS error" Tried many
possible resolutions, but to no avail. Had no problem
before I left for vacation last week, but encountered
problem tuning computer back on upon my return. AOL techs
gave suggested resolutions, but none worked.
Anyone have this problem and resolved it?
