Secure Access 97 App in XP OS

Some years back I created a secure database application in Access 97. It
resides on the network and users have had NT as their OS.

We have finally decided to enter the 21st century and are upgrading our OS
to XP. When users open the database they have to click on a shortcut and
enter their user name and password. This will not work in XP.

Do I need to reconfigure the shortcut? On the hard drive is access still
located at:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\MSACCESS.EXE?
Thanks
Steve B.

You need to convert your A97 files to A2k3 files for starters. There's a
wealth of info on the subject on comp.databases.ms-access if you'd care to
search for it. There are some pitfalls to be aware of and avoid. More info
here http://allenbrowne.com/ser-48.html

The regular path to the Access exe for 2k3 is C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office\OFFICE11\MSACCESS.EXE.

Thanks Keith, that link looks like it has a wealth of information that will
come in very handy as this goes forward.

I think I will try copying the shortcut and changing the path to the path
you gave.
Thanks

I think it's a bum steer because I went into auto-pilot inferring that you
had also upgraded to A2003 (as we just have) - D'oh!
