I have one ati pcie card installed in the system. after installing second
pci vga card, the system doesn't allocate resource for it says in winxp.
and I can't find any option for "init pci" or alike in bios.

Have any idea for this troubleshooting?

Much of information wouldbe appreciated

One more thing. the first pci is not the first slot that follows pcie slot.
slots are arranged in pcie x16, pcie x1, pci, pci ..etc

Heard somewhere pci vga card has to be installed in slot that follows agp...

Is this anything to do with the problem?

A PCIe (not pcie) is a newer style connection for the video card. These
require newer motherboards and these motherboard may not have any setting for
AGP or PCI video cards. Also, PCIe slot are completely different for AGP/PCI
ones. AGP/PCI video card are not compatible for these slots.

Some PCIe ready motherboard now come with more than one PCIe slots. This for
the adding of a second PCIe video card.

Just to clarify: your second video card is PCI, NOT PCIe, is that
correct?

If so, what model is it? A lot of old PCI cards (prior to 2000), do
not like running in multiples.
The exception to this is matrox.

yes pci not pcie, ati rage xl

That's a marginal one. You can put 2 of these in a system. And no more.
You might want to check ATI's website for updated drivers, and see if
you can reassign some IRQs to free up resources.
