Well, to begin with, there is no Internet Explorer 7 yet. Second, Outlook
does not include a news client; you have to configure it to use Outlook
Express (in Internet Explorer). And finally, believe it or not, you have to
own your *own* copy of Windows XP--not one a friend has already used. And
you have to keep it for just such eventualities as you have encountered (not
sell it to someone else).
If you got Office 2003 (even without Windows XP) for $100, you got quite a
bargain since even the upgrade version retails for Office Standard is $239;
Office Pro is $329; and those versions will work only if you have a previous
qualifying version of Office. It sounds as if you are a student and might be
eligible for the Student and Teacher Edition ($149), which does not require
that you own any previous version to qualify. Whatever version you get, it
has to be your *own* copy; you will not be able to activate a copy that has
already been installed by someone else. See
