Second HDD disapeared

Not too long ago i installed XP pro, at the time of instilation i had both a 30g and an 80g hooked up and working propperly. A few days ago the 30g vanished, it shows up in bios, device manager but not disk management or my computer. Help me please, this 30g holds years worth of some of my work and other things i would like to keep.

I had that problem and it turned out to be a flaky IDE cable. It's worth a
try..

No question the cable could have 'died'. You could first try unhooking the
cable connections [both data and power] to the hard drive. It would be
worth trying a different power lead if there's one available.

If that doesn't work, try posting in microsoft.public.windowsxp.storage.
Almost for certain you will be able to get your data back - just how much
effort.
