Searching Multiply Documents for specified text

Nick Stewart

Hello, I would appreciate any advice on this subject.

I would like to search multiple documents within a
selected folder or folders for text specified in a search
field. I would like the search to return the documents
containing the specified text. Much like searching for
webpages.

Is their such functionality within Microsoft Office XP?
If so what is it called?

Many thanks,
Nick

You can do this from Word, but it's much easier to do through Windows
Explorer. In Word (if you're a glutton for punishment), use Tools | Search
in the File Open dialog.

Why not just use explorer? Open Explorer, type cntrl-f to
open the find function, select "find files or folders',
enter the word or phrase you are looking for in the 'a
word or phrase in the file' pane, select the folder to
search in, then click search
