I would like to use 2 monitors simultaneously at once to have a bigger desktop.
Can someone recommend me a good monitor card with two such monitor ports ?

It need not a high performance since I am not playing video games.

Hi Tom,

Any of the newer GeForce cards will support two monitors
well and will likely also support your video needs for a
long time to come. I usually tell clients to spend as
much as they can now, and not worry about replacement for
a long time. Current the Geforce 5600 is the sweet spot
in that chipset (try to get a chaintech manufactured card
if possible). ATi also has a number of cards that support
dual monitors, however I have found that those cards have
been problematic when compared to the GeForce chipset.

ATI, Nvidea, Matrox all have dual monitor cards.
I prefer nvidea's implimentation over ATI's , but thats just me.

If it's for 2d word and excel aplications than look for Matrox. The
cards arn't good for gaming but great at office programmes and they have
dualheads

I have a Matrox G450 which gives me exceptionally
clear text on a Samsung 955df. The card supports
dual monitors. I use only one monitor, however,
and thus cannot comment on its performance with
two.

Nowadays multi-monitor cards are the norm rather than
the exception. There are literally hundreds of cards
for you to choose from - starting from about $40
yankeebucks and going up to well over $1000 yankeebucks.

Personally, I prefer Matrox for all non-3D use -
particularly when it comes to multiple monitors.

3D performance of Matrox cards sucks compared to
anything else on the market.

However, when it comes to crisp, clear 2D performance
and multi-monitor usage, Matrox leaves everyone else in
the dust. Anytime a user complains of headaches after
using their computer for only half an hour or so,
replacing their ATI or nVidia card with a Matrox is the
first thing I try and it solves the problem almost every
time.

Any Matrox card from the old G450 and and G550 up to
the current P650, P750, and Parhelia lines should do
the job very nicely for you.

Agree with Rob,

Matrox G450, 550 do the job well if 3D game is not the main concern. I used
four 450/550, also ATI, I prefer Matrox for its easy and versatile control:
extended desktop, cloned desktop, virtual desktop, separate resolution and
refresh rate... etc., no other cards can catch up.
