Searching for text in files

I am trying to search for files that contain a given text string in a directory and it's sub directories. The files that are being searched are plain text (.txt) files. Windows explorer search is not finding the files, even with a search that contains words selected from a known file. The search works for other words in Word documents in other directories, so I believe I am set up correctly. I'm searching a network folder that I have read/write access to. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks for the link, Alan. I used method 2 as well. Now my searches work. Does anyone else find this issue to be REALLY annoying. I am too frusterated for words.
