Searching for files and folders

This is happening in my Windows XP Professional sp2 version.

For some reason, while using search (select a folder and right mouse click
option Search...), it does not search .java files.

For example I searched my entire com directory structure for files
containing word "import" and none were returned. Then I renamed some .java
files to .txt files. and did same search again. Sure enough this time search
found those .txt files.

Any ideas?

Search only looks for text in files with specific extensions. Others
can be added. See this article.

Using the "A word or phrase in the file" search criterion may not work

Another option is to use a 3rd party search tool like Agent Ransack
