Searching Child Domains

I am currently using an Enterprise application that
connects to Active Directory to retrieve user information.
I have one parent domain and 2 child domains. When
searching for users, I am only able to return users from
the parent domain. What do I need to do to enable
searching the child domains as well? Any pointers would be
greatly appreciated.
