Merging a child domain with it's parent

I have some child domains in active directory and dns. I want to merge all
of these child domains into the parent one. I need to move everything,
users, computers, etc...
This is a domain mixed with Windows 2000 & 2003 Server. Can someone give me
some guidance on the best way to approach this?

With ADMT you can migrate all the User- and Computeracounts
in the root domain. But the DCs you must be demote from the child
and promote on the root domain. DCs cant migrate with ADMT.
