SearchIndexer.exe flags

We don't know. Keep sending in the error reports. You may want to simply turn off the indexer.

Uninstall WDS 3 and reinstall it.
Still have the same problem then?
Searchindexer.exe is the new instant search feature for Outlook and
OneNote 2007. It is WDS 3.

Thanks Sue....I've probably sent in a 40 error reports today; hopefully it's
going to give you a hand. There wasn't any specific act that happened that
started this flag; it just began.

Turning off the indexer.....I'd be GLAD to turn off the indexer. Point me
in the right direction and I'll take the 27oz. MS warranty tool to it.<G

Start with Control Panel | Indexing Options. If that doesn't do it, you can also disable the service in Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Services

Not me. Microsoft.

Thanks again Sue; I did disable SearchIndexer in Administrative
Tools/Services....that was easy enough. I'll put the move on MS about
finding some repair....there's nada in knowledge-base, but a handful of error
messages popping up in search engs.

WDS 3 is beta software, so I wouldn't expect to find anything in the KB.

DING!

As in Office 2007 - v.Beta? I'll keep flailing around...however, the
disable took the "getting pretty annoying" pop up out of the way so I can
look around with leisure.

Thanks!

Thanks mam.....I'll keep that address close by to see what comes about. The
clue to disable SearchIndexer has made work bearable around here for the
interim.

I have also been encountering the searchindexer problem for a couple of days
now and have just found this post. I checked Control Panel/Indexing Options
and also Administrative Tools/Services and both say that Indexing is off. I
switched it on and then off again in the control panel but I am still getting
the annoying message.

I am runing XP Pro and Office 2007 beta.

Can you give me any other pointers to try.

Have you installed WDS 3.0? Anyone having problems with searching in Outlook 2007 on Windows XP or Windows 2003 should try it: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=917013

It supports x64 versions of those operating systems and lets you pick the folders you want to index, including Outlook folders in the Indexing Options applet in Control Panel. It also provides a Windows taskbar search interface.

Each download is for a different version of Windows. Use the one appropriate for your machine.

I decided to de-install the Office Beta rather than load WDS. I just wanted
to be rid of the problem. I uninstalled Office Beta and then reindexed the
system and all appeared to be well but after reboot the Searchindexer message
is appearing again. How can I get rd of it. I am ready reload Office 2003
but am loathe to do more while I still have this problem. It makes the
system unusable.

Prior to uninstalling the Office beta I was getting errors messages that the
CPU was at 100% usage.

What message? And when do you see it?

Searchindexer.exe has encountered a problem - it keeps on flashing on the
screen every few seconds. That was my original problem.

You should use Add/Remove Programs to remove whatever version of WDS you still have installed.

Sue:
I have a problem with Outlook 07 constantly giving an error message during
the time it is sending and receiving. I've installed WDS 3 and turned off
indexing, but the problem continues. I've even reinstall Office 07
altogether. There was a point that I got the "indexing error" but this one
now says there is a problem. I can't keep it open long enough to check
emails. Ideas?
