SearchExtender

Satham

Can someone help me please. I have file infected by
SearchExtender which gives pop-ups all the time with
offers for online dating, flowers etc and which also
hijacked the URL and internet explorer (to about:blank as
default). MS antispyware detected it, removed it but it
is still there upon another run. Details given by MS
antispyware, under se.dll
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\microsoft\windows\currentversi
on\uninstall\SearchAssistant Uninstall
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\microsoft\windows\currentversi
on\uninstall\SearchAssistant Uninstall DisplayName Search
Assistant Uninstall
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\microsoft\windows\currentversi
on\uninstall\SearchAssistant Uninstall UninstallString
regsvr32 /s /u C:\WINDOWS\System32\aahc.dll

I cannot simply get rid of it. Can someone tell me what
to do? Thank you. Satham

Open Microsoft AntiSpyware and send a suspected spyware
report from the Tools Menu.

Update your Microsoft Antispyware definitions. Is your
antivirus application also up to date?

Restart the Operating System in safe mode and Login as
Administrator.

Run Lavasoft Ad-Aware in safe mode, and Spybot Search &
Destroy.

When you use these, though, be sure you download the most
recent updated definitions.
