Hello Everyone,
I have a question regarding the Active Directory Search opposed to using
like Net View or just the normal search. In my normal search or using Net
View cmd the description shows up great. However, the Active Directory
search the description is blank for a lot of my computers or does not match
what I see when doing a net view. Can anyone tell me how to update those
results and I see a few computers that no longer exist in the network? Is
there an easy way to get rid of those pcs? I am more concerned with the
description showing on an Active Directory search so I would really
appreciate help with this issue.
Thanks
Dan

Hello Jerold,
Thanks for the quick replies, but I already knew that. I am needing to know
why when I search from an active directory find computers the desciption is
different than a net view search. The net view works great and my
descriptions are perfect. Its only when I do an active directory search from
my xp client I get different results.
Thanks Dan

How exactly are you doing an AD search?
Are you logged onto the domain you are searching?
Are your clients logged onto the domain?

Thanks again,
I am going to winxp, My Network Places, Search Active Directory from a winxp
client of a Windows 2000 Domain.
Yep, logged into Domain - only have one at this time
So I am searching that domain from a client that is logged in.
I get the operating systems fine when I just do that domain instead of the
Entire tree.
However, the Descriptions/Comments do not match from the Active Directory on
the 2000 server to what a new view displays.
Thanks
Dan
