Search Window or User Id Windows

When you go up to a User ID or a search window,and it pulls down a listing

of, say any user id that starts with R.and it pulls down anything you have
typed in

that window. Is that just a feature of XP or when did windows start adding
that?

Please send me any information you have a web site that I can find it………

I am trying to explain it to my Wife who is not understanding
