Search using indexing service

I am experimenting with a simple .txt file created with notepad on my
desktop.

I am using "search for a word or phrase in the file", with indexing service
enabled.

For some reason this works logged in as Administrator but not from my
account, even though I am a member of Administrators. It also works from
within the Computer Management query form from my account.

If I do the search from Start | Search, I see "searching by index" in the
status bar, but after a second, I get "Search is complete. There are no
results to display."

Any ideas? Thanks.

None of those seem to apply to my situaiton. Note that the search using
indexing works, just not from within search assistant from my account.

Hi Gregg,

Make sure the Service is set to Automatic. That that isn't the cause, run
