Search Interference

Every time I do a search in google. I get bogus results
that I think come from some spyware/adware plugin that is
installed in IE... I've tried 3 or 4 spyware removal tools
but they don't fix this problem... How do I fix this?

Hi,

You may need to delete your hosts file. A faulty entry may be re-directing
your page to a google look-alike.

1) Click on Start, then find files or folders.

2) Type the following: "hosts"
(and yes, include the quotation marks).

3) Delete the file following files:
C:\windows\hosts
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc

Josh,
Try the parasite removal programs again, in this order.

Download and run Run CWShredder from
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html

Then download, install, *update* and run both of these programs:
Ad-aware from http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/
Spybot from http://security.kolla.de/ (Remove items listed in red-others are
optional.)
Both programs should be updated after installation- before use.

If these programs don't remove the malware, HijackThis should be used to
post a log to the appropriate forum at one of these sites.
