Search in Vista

Search continues to confuse me in Vista. In XP it was easy to find files
i.e. *.xls;*budget*.doc, etc. In vista file manager there is a textbox that
says search but it looks inside all files for the string you type. I know
there is an advanced search but I can't figure out how to bring it up. It
only becomes available if the first search could not find anything. How can
I get advanced search to come up so that I can search for files?

Is there any tutorial anywhere that will allow someone to Vista Search?
Thanks,
Gary

Save yourself a LOT of trouble and install AgentRansack.

It will do what you want, and you can disable Windows Search/Indexing.

If you click on an empty area of the desktop and press F3 this will open the
old advanced search window. There used to be a link to this on the Start
Menu, but due to the protests from Google it was removed.
