Search function no longer working

I'm using FP2003 to develop a website (www.project2105.org ) and recently
moved it to a new ISP (godaddy.com). Previous to the move the search
function worked perfectly but now it is longer working. FrontPage
Extensions are installed and the website seems to otherwise work okay. The
error I get is:

"FrontPage Run-Time Component Page
You have submitted a form or followed a link to a page that requires a web
server and the FrontPage Server Extensions to function properly.
This form or other FrontPage component will work correctly if you publish
this web to a web server that has the FrontPage Server Extensions installed.
Click the <Back> arrow to return to the previous page."

As a test I added a test page: www.project2105.org/searchtest.htm . I have
also reinstalled FrontPage Extensions on the server and republished the
entire website but no joy.

How did you "move" it?

Did you http publish to your new host, or FTP?

While the website was still with the old ISP, I copied most of the website
to the new ISP using the ISP's FTP function. I did that so that when the
new account was finally set up I wouldn't have to publish the entire
website. Since moving to the new ISP, I've used http to publish. Also,
when I found that the search function wasn't working I republished the
entire website, overwriting the exitsing files.

You must http publish to a site that uses the extensions. Using FTP has
most likely corrupted the FP server extensions. Contact your host to run a
health check, or reinstall them. Also, you may have to recalculate the
hyperlinks on the remote site.

Check with GoDaddy to see if they support the FP Search component, which will depending on the type
of server you account is hosted on as well.

I have been using FP2002 for about 3 years, when I moved over to GoDaddy my
Search form quit working also. We called GoDaddy to figure out what to do and
they said the code in the Search is corrupted and to put the code back into
the Search feature. Tried to locate the code by doing a search but, nothing.
Our search function quit work when the GoDaddy server quit working and they
put our site on another server then the search quit working. I tried to use
the backup copy of our website to find the code, it did not find the code I
was looking for. I am using Windows XP SP2 with Office XP.

Hi.

Thanks for writing.

Yes, we are publishing with FP using http.

When speaking with GoDaddy tech support, they said to look for an old file
code containnig "fpnwind.mdb," which they say, was calling the database.

When we checked the old Dec 06 files, there was no such mdb file call in the
code.

No version of FP (or FP SE) uses a DB (like fpnwind.mdb) for the FP search
- you host is Hopeless

Is you site at GoDaddy hosted on the same OS as on the old web host?

Hi, excuse me for poking my head in here but I, also, am looking for a
resolution to this issue. I've inherited a site and added the Search Form to
all the pages. My own personal localhost IS (which now has server extensions)
refuses to recognize the search but says that it will run on a proper
FrontPage extended server. So I uploaded to the live site (which,
conincidentally is godaddy) -- and got the same message.

I've done everything I can think of including reinstalling / uninstalling
and reinstalling FrontPage extensions (GoDaddy technicians instructed this)
- and recreating the search form. I've also re-published the site back and
forth several times always recalculating the hyperlinks and doing whatever I
could to "clean up" the site, making sure not to use the FTP option. And I've
published both "just changed pages" as well as the entire site thinking that
might make a difference. Nothing! GoDaddy says they have no training on
FrontPage and can't help - they insist that there has to be something wrong
with my pages.

If anyone comes up with an answer to this, please keep me in the loop. I'm
really frustrated by this particular issue.

The search component, I think, has to run on Windows server, and they have
to enable the indexing service under IIS
