search for files

when I try to search for a file it tells me Windows Explorer has encountered
a problem and need to close. I can search for pictures or others things. It
closes the program. I have Windows XP. thanks

Try this, Jefferychuck:

Go to Start > Run and type in scannow /SFC

You will be asked for the Windows XP CD so make sure you have that handy. I

Can't try this because the computer didn't come with a XP disk. Any time I
try to search for files, windows closes down, and at rimes all the icons on
the desktop are gone. When I check the Windows Task Manager, it shows the
System Idle Process running up to 99 . thanks.
