Search files and folders

when i go to start > search > files & folder in the search
window i type the first letter of a file it remembers the
file name how do i clear the history?

Turn off AutoComplete:
Start/Search/Change Preferences/Turn AutoComplete off

Doing what you suggest still does not ERASE the search words but only
hides them. HOw can they be erased so as to not be able to be
retrived??
