SEARCH FAILURE

I am unable to search inside a *.CPP file in XP.
I understand that there is an update to XP MEDIA EDITION that will permit
this.
Does anyone know how to get the update?
Thanks,

Thanks,

Search engines can be quite good at finding information.

Did you try a search engine, entering your phrase? google points you to a
page on Microsoft's site, Microsoft's site gives you links to look at.

Click Start > Search > For Files and Folders and click Change Preferences.

Click With Indexing Service (for faster local searches).

Click Change Indexing Service Settings (Advanced).

This will bring up the Indexing Service window.

Click View > Customize.

Place a checkmark next to Console Tree and click OK.

In the left hand pane, right click the entry named Indexing Service on
Local Machine and choose Properties.

Place a checkmark next to Index files with unknown extensions. Done

If the change doesn't take immediate effect, reboot.

The Indexing Service is more trouble than it is worth.

Thank you for your information. I have since found the solution to this
problem which is to make a very minor change in the Registry:
