Search Engine does not work

I have IE 6.0 SP1 Browser and Windows 2000 Operating
System.

Everytime I want to search anything using search option in
my Browser, I get "HTTP 404 - File not found" error.
However, if I use address option on the Browser and type
any valid address then it works fine.

I would like to know, is there any supporting file missing
in my PC.

Please help me.

Sounds like the Qhosts trojan. You should install all the Windows Updates
to prevent this trojan from coming back.
See the 10/03/2003 item as it has a description and a removal
tool for the trojan.
