Search engine, default URL and tool bars hijacked by porno site

All,
Experiencing IE 6.0 SP1 has been hijacked by porno sites.
cannot un install IE to do new install. have deleted all
cookies, all downloads and plugins.
Looked in the Add/Remove Win components and cannot find IE
(unlike W95/98 or 2k).
This is a student's PC they can't access web w/o gettin
porn.
Any advice?
