Search doesn't work from Start

My search function doesn't function from "Start." Moreover, after I try it the entire tray, including "Start" won't function at all, although it can be seen and the desktop still functions

Search functions normally from any Explorer's Window.

I've reinstalled the "srchasst.inf" file with no improvement

Any help would be greatly appreciated
