Search Companion file missing

When I run search in the start menu, a msg "a file that
is required to run Search Companion cannot be found. You
may need to run setup." Is there other way round this
problem for preinstalled notebook that have no setup CD?

If you have a folder on your hard disk/partition named i386 try the

"Why doesn't Search work?"

tx, but still the same msg. my default share document
folder is missing. any thing to do with the problem?
 
tried it but none of the solution worked, the patch only
work on machine without service pack.
