When I click the search button from the start menu the
serach companion that lets you search for files on your
computer is completely blank. There is nothing except a
window that says search companion with nothing in it.
What do I do? Do I have to like reinstall just that
part? how do i do that? ahhh help me

Hi Kelly,

Give this a try first.....go to Start>Run and key in:
regsvr32 /i c:\windows\srchasst\srchui.dll
click on OK or hit ENTER
Click on OK in the RegSvr32 dialogue box when it (hopefully) states that the
DllRegisterServer and DllInstall succeeded.

If the above doesn't solve the problem, follow the instructions for Method 3
in this MSKB article:

Regards,
