Hi, I don't really know much about computers so I'm
hoping someone out there knows what I'm talking about.
When I go to the start menu and then to search...my
search companion opens up but it is completely blank, so
I can't search for any files on my computer. The same
thing happens when I click search on my internet explorer
browser when it pops up on the side...can anyone help
me? Do i have to like reinstall that part or what?

Thanks

Note: If have more than 11 items listed on the right side in blue, both Run and Search will be dropped off. If this is the case, remove some items by right clicking the Start button/Properties/Customize/Advanced

Ok I tried that, and I restarted my computer after and it
hasn't fixed it..hmm...

Try this: Click Start | Run and type:
"regsvr32 /i C:\Windows\Srchasst\srchui.dll"
then, "regsvr32 /i urlmon"

If this did not help,
1. Log on to the computer by using an account with administrator permissions.
2. Click Start, click Run, type %systemroot%\inf, and then click OK.
3. Locate the Srchasst.inf file.
4. Right-click the Srchasst.inf file, and then click Install. This reinstalls the files that Search Companion uses.
