search button on task bar

When I use the search button on the tool bar, it sends
the search to "IXQuick" search engine even though the
customize box is checked for Yahoo or any of the other
choices. Does anyone know how I can remove this search
engine as the choice for the search button. I also have a
pop up ad that comes when I first hit the search button
and I have to shutdown IE to rmove it.Then when I reopen
IE the pop up doesn't come back. Thanks
