When I type something in the search box it is saved there (forever) so next
time I click on there everything I have ever looked up is there...how do I
remove this?

You can remove search bar entries by removing the search in the registry.

Start>run and type

regedit

then navigate to the following key

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Search Assistant\ACMru\5001

in the right-hand pane contains all your Search Assistant searches. You cam
right click on this and select delete.
