Search assistant files lost

On a PC with Windows XP Home - SP1 I received a message that Search assistant
files had been removec by virus .I did not connect to internet and chose to
exit the install option.

However I now get a prompt in all logins that it is searching for
wltrysvcs.exe.Is there any way to recover this , is it an essential file

It's not an essential file unless you like having spyware on your computer.
You don't want that file back, you need to finish cleaning out the malware.
