search and recovery mission

Hi All - Worked several hours on a word doc last night. After finishing, I
saved, but something didnt look right as the screen changed to desktop. I
looked in recent files, temp files, recycle bin and cant find the most recent
version (with changes), I do have an earlier version. Performed a search in
word. Several documents were shown, however the search word that I used is
not in any of the versions that search found. Does that mean tI can recover
the latest version of document with the search word in it ?-- If so, HOW?
thanks, Lisa

When you saved the document and something didn't look right, try to describe
what took place, as you saved. Create a test document, save it, and see if
the same thing happens again, if you haven't already. Of coarse, no one wants
it to happen again, but it might pinpoint, the problem, if you can recreate
the error. If you can share what version of Microsoft Office Word is being
used, and your operating system, it might help. It sounds like there is no
Auto-Recovery. This is a good time to turn that feature on, which is not
available by default. You still have to hit save, like normal, but if there's
a gliche in the system, or whatever, the document is retrievable. I've had
situations where I thought documents were lost for good, and they're
recovered. It really comes in handy.
