I apoligize for the incomplete post. I accidentally hit "enter" on my keyboard prematurely. Let my try again

I can successfully place my .avi files into my powerpoint presentations. On my old version of power point (1995) the movies played with the scroll bar at the bottom. How can I make the scroll bar appear at the bottom of my .avi on Power Point 2003? The animations I am trying to display are rather complex and I would like to be able to scroll through different parts of the movie with the mouse during the slide show. (Every frame in my movie is a key frame so scrolling works very well, or at least it did on the 1995 version of powerpoint.

thanks for any advice

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello Dan,

To get the same behavior in PowerPoint 2003, you would have to insert the
media in a way which forces PowerPoint to use the OLE method that was used
in PowerPoint 95.

1) Insert -> Object
2) Select "Media Clip" from list of object types and click "OK" (this will
bring up the Media Clip object menus)
3) Insert Clip -> Video for Windows
4) Select your media file and click "Open" (you might have to change the
entry in "Files of type" list before your media file can be listed and
selected).
5) Edit -> Options
6) Choose the playback options for the clip which include the option to
view "Control bar on playback", and click OK
7) Click anywhere outside the boundaries for the Media Clip object to
return to PowerPoint menus

Since this is an OLE object you will have different options for controlling
this in PowerPoint than you would for movies inserted using the Inset ->
Movies and Sounds... commands in PowerPoint.

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that it's important that
PowerPoint provide this kind of functionality natively (playback controls
for media objects), don't forget to send your feedback (in YOUR OWN WORDS,
please) to Microsoft at:

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also WHY it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).

My guess: you're choosing Insert, Movie, From File. This is the usual
way of doing things, especially when you *want* the AVI to play w/o any
extraneous stuff like the toolbar you're trying to get back. ;-)

If so, try Insert, Object, Create from file and experiment with the
different options. That should do just what you're after.
