Scrolling-lag ATI Radeon 9200

PRODUCT ATI 9200 128 MB AGP / DRIVER: Catalyst 6.1 /
OS: WIN XP
I am experiencing a "scroll-lag" when browsing pages with IE 6.0.
Also, when scrolling through a folder within Explorer.exe,

the screen also "lags behind". This is not the case when "scrolling"
through an image when using windowsXP picture and fax
viewer. By scroll lag I mean that, whenever I scroll , the screen has
to "rebuild" the image from top to bottom. It looks

like a screen with a very low refresh frequency for one instant.

This scroll lag issue does NOT present itself at all when using
Windows 2000 on the same machine.

Also, the card is not able to detect a PAL-B (dutch) TV when turning
on the TV-OUT. Only by using a force detect option (by

some 3rd party tool for ATI cards) does the card "see" the TV. However
in neither situation am I able to get a duplicate

screen on the TV.

I know it should be possible on this TV since my previous ATI 8500 LE
worked fine with TV output.

My PC: P3 800 mHz, 512 MB SDRAM. Display: DVI flatpanel.

Anyone?
Please EMAIL me if any idea how to fix this.

Your 9200 card has about 25% less bandwidth than an 8500LE card. If you have
a 9200 64bit card, then it's a 75% drop. XP Pro on a PIII 800 with 512Mb
will leave virtually no free resources for other apps, and the conditions
you are experiencing are likely due to these things.

I have an ATI Radeon 9250 with 256MB of memory, running XP on a P3 667
with 576MB of memory. I'm using the updated drivers.

Similar scrolling problems occur for me with hi-res images. In fact,
this card sometimes seems to choke on images more than my old 14MB
card. And I got this thing for better image display in Photoshop.

Are there any settings that will help with the scrolling issue?

What brand and type of card exactly? A 9250SE with 256Mb or a 9250 with
256Mb? I suspect an SE model. Use Everest to see what's the memory bus
width. XP Pro on a PIII 667 with your memory amount is also part of the
issue. Try sticking in a another 512Kb of PC133 instead of the extra 64Mb
stick you had lying around. And if any your memory is running at PC100 or
PC66 that will cause speed issues as well.

Sounds like an issue w/ SMARTGART - make sure that it has not disabled all
the advanced capiblities of the card when loading.
