scrolling is not smooth

when I scroll on any screen (word, XL, internet ect.) with either the mouse
wheel or by clicking on the up or down arrows it is not smooth. You can see
the screen refreshing itself. I have tried changing the number of lines the
mouse wheel scrolls but it made it worse. I didn't have this proble until I
reloaded my Windows XP software.

Could be a conflict between the mouse driver and the video driver.
Right click a blank area of the desktop | Properties | Settings |
Advanced | Troubleshoot. Move the hardware acceleration slider to the
left away from full. If one notch works leave it. If it takes more than
one update the video card drivers and mouse drivers. Get them from the
manufacturer's web site if retail hardware, or from the computer
manufacturer's web site if it's an OEM system like HP or Dell.
