scrolling, cursor jumps to top

In My Pictures, My Documents and Windows Email, I cannot scroll to anything
past what is visible when I open the file. I move the side bar scroll down
and when I let go, it jumps to the top again. Also, tried to turn screen
saver back on; I can see my selection; i.e. "Bubbles", but when I try to make
the selection, the screen looks like I did not make any selection.

Hi, Kryzma.

In Vista, My Pictures and My Documents don't exist except as "Junctions"
that point to the Vista equivalents of those WinXP folder names. And
there's no "Windows Email", either; you probably mean "Windows Mail". Small
difference, but you know how picky computers can be. :>(

Can you open C:\Users\Kryzma\Documents? Does the scrolling problem happen
there? (If Kryzma is not your user name, then change to your name.)

If you need to post back, be sure to tell us which version of Vista you are
running. If it was pre-installed on your computer when you bought it,
please tell us the make and model of computer. If you're using something
other than the "original equipment", tell us which make and model mouse you
are using and which drivers you may have installed.

I'm one of many users who have complained of some such quirks, even with a
Microsoft-branded mouse and drivers downloaded from Microsoft. :>( Some
problems have been fixed; others we just live with for now.

Thank you... Tried a new wireless, notebook mouse, Swiss Army Brand, when all
the problrms started. Never accured to me that could be a problem. I could
not even scroll in My Computer to open C:\Users\Kryzma\Documents, as you
mentioned. Start with the easiest possible solution, I put my cheap Saitek
USB mouse in and voila!, No more scrolling issues. I am greatful.

Hi, Kryzma.

I'm glad you got it working!

As you might not have noticed yet, there is also no "My Computer" in Vista.
It's just "Computer" now. Almost all of the "My " prefaces have been
eliminated or converted to junctions, just as "My Documents" now points to
"C:\Users\Kryzma\Documents". The new junctions exist only for the benefit
of legacy applications that have not yet been updated for Vista; when one of
them points to My Documents, Vista translates to the new location.

You should be able to click Start | Documents and go directly to
C:\Users\Kryzma\Documents. And Start | Pictures should take you straight to
C:\Users\Kryzma\Pictures.
