Scroll up with mouse wheel causes back to previous page

When I scroll up with the mouse wheel, IE goes back to the previous page as
if I had clicked the back button. How do I disable this incredibly annoying
behavior?

Avoiding the obvious, Bill, reconfigure your mouse buttons to <default>
Perhaps corrupt drivers.
Try uninstalling the mouse device via Device Manager, *assuming* XP.
Type: "devmgmt.msc" (no quotes) from your > Run > Dialog box.
Find the mouse device in the list, click on the (+) plus sign to expand to
display the mouse device, right-click, choose uninstall, reboot via the
power button on your PC - this will rebuild the driver database for your
mouse.
Report back your findings.
