Scripts in IE being blocked by something in Windows

I have an issue where I get a script error in IE that starts out with
"Wrong
number of argumnets" and then progresses from there as I elect to
continue running scripts on this page. I have eliminated firewall,
proxy and IE security settings related to active content. Most
computers on my network get this error but a few are not and when I
make the settings
related to Local Security policy and IE security exactly the same I
still get the errors on only certain computers. It is driving me
nuts.
I reinstalled one computer from scratch and was able to eliminate the
script errors with just a basic Windows XP installation and DSL
connection. However, I cannot find anything in the software or
security settings that is blocking these scripts from running on this
secure site on verified by a CA Certiicate but I know something in the
OS is
creating the block....Any suggestions? It is getting the best of me!
Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Thank you for the reply. It was full of worthy suggestions. However,
it did not fix the issue.Good thing I never smoked or I might have to
start again. If I figure it out I will post it. Thanks again for
taking the time.
