scripting errors

On my home desktop (windows xp home edition and IE6 with
all latest upgrades) while using explorer on the web, most
web pages do not look correct. by that i mean different
frames seem to overlap and not all the graphix show
correctly (jpgs seem fine though). i also notice this with
popup windows when not on the web such as the pop up
windows that you get when installing a program, the font
seems to large for the window and contiues off the edge of
the screen but there is not scroll bar to allow you to
follow the text. Often times you can not see the "next"
or "accept" buttons inside these popup windows either.

I have done everything suggested by microsoft on this
subject except for an inplace upgrade of windows xp. That
sounds scarry.

I just found a download for the windows script but do not
know if this download will replace my existing script
engine and do any good or if i am stuck with an inplace
upgrade for windows.

Any thoughts, suggestions? Please.

the following is the only info i can find regarding the
script download:

This download installs Microsoft® Windows® Script
containing Visual Basic® Script Edition (VBScript.)
Version 5.6, JScript® Version 5.6, Windows Script
Components, Windows Script Host 5.6, and Windows Script
Runtime Version 5.6.

Check your Display properties DPI setting.

Tip: in XP if you are not sure how to do that try Help. ;o
(press Win-F1 and search for DPI)
FWIW when I do that I see an entry in Full-text Search Matches called:
"Increase or descrese the size of objects and text on your screen"

A workaround is to pretend that you can see those buttons
and press Tab to change the keyboard focus to one.
Apparently that is enough to get rendered the portion of the dialog
that you can't see.
