Script to fill ppt from a database?

Here's a fun one.

Im not sure if this even possible, but I'd LOVE to be able to run a show,
and have a bit of actual PowerPoint text automatically be populated with info
from a text or excel file.

The closest i've come so far is to insert a web browser, and have the slide
display the current updated content in a web page that i create.
But the browser object has a frame around it, and it needs to reload each
time the slides change (displaying the choppy windows logo)

I'd like the text to appear as if it were right on the slide, with no
appearance of being dynamically generated.

Any ideas?
