Script error in IE when 'buzzing' in Yahoo Messenger

I'm using the French version of IE. Every time I use the 'buzz a friend' facility in Messenger, a message comes up telling me there's a script error in IE. Also, when somebody buzzes me, Messenger hangs and I have to close & re-start it in order to use it

These problems seem to have started after I downloaded some security patches for Windows, so I don't know whether the problem is with IE, Messenger or Windows but would appreciate if somebody could help me get rid of them.

Common script errors messages can be eliminated by Clicking:
1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options. 3. In the Internet Options
dialog box, click Advanced.
4. Click to select the Disable script debugging check box.
5. Click to clear the Display a notification about every script error check
box.
6. Click OK.

Microsoft's Scripting download
Get the latest. Two download versions are available for Windows Script 5.6.
The first version requires Windows 2000, XP; the second version requires
Microsoft Windows 98, Millenium Edition (Me), or NT 4.0.
Choose the download appropriate for your operating system.
