Screensaver turns itself off after a short time, why?

Why does XP turn the screen back on after a ¼ hour the screensaver has been
activated & nothing else is running? If its set to activate after 10
minutes it does not work at all!
That is so Bizarre! Do I have to manually turn my display off every time
now?

Something is running and since only you know what is installed on your
computer, only you can find out what it is. The most common cause is a
wireless mouse and/or keyboard since those devices poll the computer
regularly.

Do you have an optical mouse? A big truck going by your house can move
it and stop the screen saver. Try turning your mouse upside down and see
if you continue to have the problem in order to rule the mouse out.

Thanks for those thoughts guys but no, now wireless mouse and no trucks in my
dead-end place. I will try turning the mouses upside down but I also doubt it
would be that so regularly. I have an inkling it may be Windows defender or a
internal Windows routine that is running behind the scenes fir some reason?
Windows defender and all others are not scheduled to run without me executing
them!
See it used to be fine until about the time I downloaded that

So, disable Defenseless and see if the problem continues. I didn't say
"wireless" but "optical" as optical mice are more sensitive.

Yup, I know you didn't Alias but I also got this:
"... The most common cause is a

So what do you mean defenceless? Windows Defender, right?
