Screensaver/Slideshow

NICHOLAS MEALE

Hello!!
Part 1.Screensaver.
I have my pix in sequence lining them up as names and in groups..Whats
happening is pix are being shown as random and I just don't know how that
can happen...I don't seem to have a choice in the matter...

Part 2.Slideshow.
I can't enlarge pix for slideshow viewing..There is a prompt line in help
support which indicates full screen pix can be had but when I click on it
the display box makes no comment about it..Anyone know the
answer..Thanks..Nick

Note:I think MS could have correlated these two progams...Slideshow turns
pix at predetermined time interval of about 6 seconds whereas screensaver
gives gives a variety of time interval...

.
For what you are trying to do is NOT a WindowsXP
program. It is a 3rd party photo editor/graphics
program. You have to open that program to set up your
screensaver and slideshow. To change your screensaver
only, you can: rightclick anywheres in middle of desktop
screen, properties, screensaver tab. Have fun!

If you re-number your images in the following way,
they should be displayed in the correct sequence.
You may wish to begin by making copies of all the
images because the names you have added will
be lost.

When you have the copies in the correct order and
are ready to re-number them...do the following....

With the folder open...go to...Edit / Select All....
Right click the first file in the selected group and
choose..."Rename"...
Type in a name for the group of images followed
by a space and (1)....

Example:

Birthday Pictures (1).jpg

WindowsXP will add the remainder of the numbers.

Birthday Pictures (1).jpg
Birthday Pictures (2).jpg
Birthday Pictures (3).jpg
Birthday Pictures (4).jpg

The slide show, presents the images at their actual
size up to the limit of your screen size settings.

Example...if you have your screen size set at 1024x768
....a 640x480 image would not be shown at full screen.

If you enlarge the images by using a graphics program
such as IrfanView....you can make them any size you wish.
Just realize that enlarged images will lose some resolution.

Download IrfanView

(get the plug-ins too)

You can share that thought with MS at the following link:

Screen saver is just that, a screen saver. What is a screen saver? Only an
old timer can answer this. The idea that we need a "screen saver" now is
nonsense. We did (maybe) a long time ago and so the idea of having a screen
saver persists.
What you get is a random display of pictures from "My Pictures" unless you
select something else. So you get something on your screen when you do
nothing. Supposedly, we were told a long time ago, to "save your screen" by
having a "screen saver". I never used one but I saw some nifty ones like the
dancing pigs. Very cute.
How do you expect to see something on your screen in a predetermined order
when you are not in front of your computer? This is not the idea about a
screen saver. A screen saver is simply a changing display of anything until
you go back to work.
When you use the Slide show, XP displays the photos, as best it can to fill
your screen. Look at your screen resolution. It will be something like 1280
by 1024 pixels. How do you expect a picture of 640 by 480 pixels to fill
your screen? Not enough pixels!
The idea that MS should correlate the two is nonsense.
There is absolutely no possible way to expect such a thing.
One, the Screen Saver, is something being displayed on your screen when you
are not working, you are not even at your computer. The other is something
that you want to see and you are sitting in front of your computer to see
it.
