Hello,

I must configure a screen saver password on 2 domain
controllers. Both of these DC run an application which
permits users to work. This application does not run as a
service.
How can i configure a password protected screensaver say
after 10 minutes of inactivity on 2 DC's using a group
policy?

Much appreciate the help,

Alexis Crawford

Well, the screen saver GPO setting (User configuration|Administrative
Templates|Control Panel|Display node) is for user accounts only. However, if
you want to have every user that ever logs onto your DC have a screensaver
with a 10 minute timelimit, use the Loopback configuration in a GPO that is
linked to the Domain Controllers OU. Then, every user that logs onto your DC
will have a screensaver kick in after 10 minutes.

You can take use of the follow policies to set a screensaver and a password.
How ever if you want to applies this setting only when users are logged in
to the particular DC´s and not the regular workstations you have to take use
of Group Policy loopback processing mode as described below. Add this policy
to the Domain Controllers OU, I hope this helps

Applies alternate user settings when a user logs on to a computer affected
by this setting. This setting directs the system to apply the set of Group
Policy objects for the computer to any user who logs on to a computer
affected by this setting. It is intended for special-use computers, such as
those in public places, laboratories, and classrooms, where you must modify
the user setting based on the computer that is being used. By default, the
user's Group Policy objects determine which user settings apply. If this
setting is enabled, then, when a user logs on to this computer, the
computer's Group Policy objects determine which set of Group Policy objects
applies. To use this setting, select one of the following modes from the
Mode box: -- Replace indicates that the user settings defined in the
computer's Group Policy objects replace the user settings normally applied
to the user. -- Merge indicates that the user settings defined in the
computer's Group Policy \
