Screensaver not working

My screensaver will not go on. I do not have a wireless mouse. I do have a
Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3.0, but it is up to date. I unplugged it to
see if that was the problem, but to no avail. I have updated the drivers for
my video (ATI Radeon X300/X550) and updated the sound (onboard HP). I am
going crazy over something so stupid. I hate Vista. No screensavers work. Am
I the only one in the world with this problem? Please help meeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Hi Rob,

Try these things which worked....

Cause:

•The Human Interface Device Access service is running.

•An administrator logs on first and the screen saver is automatically started one time.

The administrator logs off and a non-administrator user logs on to the same computer.

When these conditions exist, the screen saver may not start automatically for the non-administrator user.

Solution: Follows….

Start -> Run-> Services.msc

•Disable the Human Interface Device Access from services.
(HID Service)

Restart the system.... IT will work

Hi Arthi, I tried that. Didn't work.

Here is something strange. I need to go into the screensaver settings and
change the time when it will go on, just by a minute either way. Then it will
go on. But, I have to do it everyday, or the screensaver won't work. Figure
that one out.

My screensaver would not work but when I installed an optional update it worked. The update you need is "Microsoft - Other Hardware - HID Non-User Input Data Filter

Please can you tell me where I can find this update. It's not in my optional
updates and I've searched Microsoft website and can't find the update
anywhere.
Thanks in advance.

The screen saver fix for when a wireless mouse is installed would be found
in Windows Update.. look for:

Microsoft - Other Hardware - HID Non-User Input Data Filter
